Oz Lotto and the news: June 30th’s $90 Million OZ Lotto Winning numbers, 12-3-38-21-23-29-40. Sups: 43-22. YouTube video

Nothing better than YouTube to recall a major headline that shook Australia bigtime: the winning number combination for the $90 Million Oz Lotto by June 30th, 2009. Take a chance to watch the video and the news report that went with the event.

$100 Million Lotto: The big winners could be … Buddhists or Humpty Dumpty
(TIM ELLIOTT AND KELSEY MUNRO – June 30, 2009, Sydney Morning Herald)KING of the Cross John Ibrahim has a ticket. Joe Hockey has two. The Australian Communist Party has formed a syndicate, and the Buddhists are punting, too.

It seems everyone has a stake in tonight’s record-breaking $90 million Oz Lotto draw – the richest prize ever offered in any Australian lottery – from the homeless to the pious.

Some 10 million tickets have been sold for tonight’s jackpot, which ballooned last week when the first division offer of $59,295,155.45 “rolled over”. While the chance of an individual winning the prize has been pegged at one in 45 million, a large number of sales have been to syndicates, including one organised by Hannah Middleton, the secretary-general of the Communist Party of Australia.

“Me and three other members of the party have thrown in $5 each,” Ms Middleton said. “We don’t have much faith in winning, but the momentary burst of hope is pleasant. After all, we are the working-class party and the working class in Australia have never been averse to the odd flutter.”

Should she win, Ms Middleton would spend the money “standing more Communist candidates for election, helping those who have lost their homes in the economic crisis, funding Aboriginal medical centres, campaigning harder to get our troops out of Afghanistan and paying to send some of our politicians on a very long holiday”.

The Kings Cross nightclub owner John Ibrahim had also bought a ticket, the winnings from which would be used to build orphanages in South-East Asia, “because everyone needs a reason to live, to hope and to dream”. And any money left over would be used to pay his legal fees, said Ibrahim’s lawyer, Stephen Alexander.

Daniel Chan, the secretary of the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society, was planning to buy a ticket when the Herald spoke to him. “Well why not?” he said. “It’s a truckload of cash, right?”

Mr Chan was dreaming of “doing some extensions to our Mingyue Lay temple in Bonnyrigg, and by creating branches to propagate Buddhism. And, of course, we would make some charitable donations, as we always do.”

And the federal Liberal Party frontbencher Joe Hockey confirmed he had bought two tickets. A spokeswoman for Mr Hockey said he planned to give any winnings to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, which buys equipment for children’s hospitals.

Even the Islamic community has been having a cheeky punt. “The Koran explicitly prohibits gambling,” said Keysar Trad, the spokesman for Sheikh Taj El-Din Hilaly. “Still, at my local newsagency I have seen people who are obviously Muslim buying tickets for the draw. And no, the sheikh hasn’t bought a ticket.”

A homeless man, Adam Glover, said if he won the jackpot, “I’d buy somewhere to live.”

A middle-aged Gold Coast couple have become instant millionaires after winning last night’s bumper Oz Lotto jackpot. The pair, who won with a $37.80 Jumbo Quick Pick ticket, went off to work this morning, despite their new super-rich status. They intend to share the booty among family and donate some to charity.

“They watched the draw on television last night but just weren’t prepared to let themselves believe that they had won until we called them,” Golden Casket spokeswoman Bianca Green said.

The couple bought the winning ticket at the Lucky Mermaid News agency at Mermaid Beach and will share the record $106.45 million prize with a second division one winner – an Adelaide man in his 40s. Each will pocket $53.2 million. The couple want to remain anonymous and will go to work today.

“It is business as usual for them today. They are going to work,” said Golden Casket spokeswoman Karen Anning, who spoke to the pair earlier. “They said they had to check their numbers multiple times last night. “When they got the call this morning solidifying their winnings, they said ‘I was hoping to hear from you this morning’.” “They are tossing around ideas on how they will spend their money.”

The Adelaide winner will also keep his identity a secret as the windfall sinks in. “I couldn’t move, I couldn’t react, I couldn’t do anything but sit there and stare at my ticket,” he told the SA Lotteries website after the announcement. “I really have no clue what to do with that kind of money — a financial adviser will definitely be my first stop,” he said. “I might take a holiday to Melbourne or Sydney to give me time to think about what I could possibly do with $50 million.”

Australia’s largest ever lotto jackpot sparked a ticket buying frenzy yesterday with 10 million entries sold. The Oz Lotto website crashed immediately after the winning numbers were drawn live on Channel Seven at 8.50pm last night.

The Adelaide winner has been a regular Oz Lotto player for more than 20 years, and paid $15.05 for his winning ticket, according to the SA Lotteries website. The site said the man had declined media interviews, but issued a statement in which he declared: “Right now, I can’t stop shaking and I’m in a state of shock.” He said he would share his prize with family members and to numerous charities.

How to play Powerball Lotto. The Powerball lover guide

Posted by : admin

Another of the most popular Lotto games is called Powerball. The powerball motto is “one ball could change it all” and it is definitely spot on with how this lotto game is played and won.

Powerball requires the player to select 5 out of an available 45 numbers on each game panel they wish to enter for the weekly draw. In addition to selecting the 5 main numbers, the player is also required to select just one number, the “powerball” number in a separate section of the game panel.

You can select your numbers each week on a game card, store your favourite numbers with the lotto game or take a quickpick for your chance to win the powerball prize.

Powerball is played on Thursday evenings and is usually drawn live on free to air television. Entries for the powerball draw close at 7:30pm AEST to allow time for all entries to be verified in the system before the draw commences.

The minimum number of games you must play in your Powerball entry is 2. You can play any number of standard game panels up to 12 plus up to 36 games if you choose a quickpick entry.

Powerball game prizes are split into divisional prize pools just as with the other lotto games. These run from Division 1 which is the top prize through to Division 5 which is the bottom prize. The divisions work as below:

  • Division 1: Get all 5 winning numbers from the first machine draw plus the 1 Powerball number from the second machine draw.
  • Division 2: Get all 5 winning numbers from the first machine draw.
  • Division 3: Get any 4 winning numbers from the first machine draw plus the 1 Powerball number from the second machine draw.
  • Division 4: Get any 3 winning numbers from the first machine draw plus the 1 Powerball number from the second machine draw.
  • Division 5: Get any 3 winning numbers from the first machine draw.

Just like the Saturday and Wednesday lotto draws, there are several ways to enter and win the Powerball lotto draw every Thursday. The first way to play is known as a Quickpick. A quickpick is where a computer generated ticket is entered into the draw for you. You do not have to select any of the number combinations or the powerball number in any game you enter. This is probably the quickest and easiest way to play powerball.

Another way to play powerball is by marking your coupon manually. Simply follow the instructions to select your 5 primary game numbers and your powerball number for each game you are entering.

As with Saturday Lotto and Wednesday Lotto, you are able to play a Syndicate entry with the Powerball game. Syndicates are groups of players who agree to all place money into a pool towards their game entry. For more information on syndicate entries or to get an entry organized, you can speak to your local lotto agent or jump online.

Powerball also allows System Entries. The major difference in Powerball system entries is that you are only able to select extra numbers in the primary number field. So for example to play a system 10 in the powerball, you select 10 numbers in the primary number field and only 1 number as normal for your powerball.

It is also possible to enter your Powerball games in advance with Advance or Multiweek entries. These allow you to either select a game or games in the future and schedule your numbers in advance to play for these games. Or, you are able to enter the same numbers in successive weekly games.

Types of Australian Lotto; the guide for Oz Lotteries on the Internet. Saturday, Monday and Wednesday Lotto. Oz Lotto, Powerball. Lotto Strike. 6 from 38 Pools. Cash 3.

Posted by : admin

Here we present you some detailed information regarding the different alternatives you have for Australian Lotto. We will be posting a few excerpts from Oz Lotteries that will help illustrate the big picture about Lotto games.

Australian Lotto alternatives

There are several types of Australian lotto that are played. The rules for each type of lotto game vary slightly, but the idea of most lotto games is to match a specific number of lotto numbers you have selected with the lotto numbers drawn for the game. The games usually take place weekly and most are televised live.

Most of the lotto games work on divisional prize pools, where the prize you win (division) is dependant on how many numbers you select match the numbers drawn for the game.

Australian Lotto is played by selecting numbers in a series of games for the weekly draw you are entering. There is one draw that takes place, but you are able to play several games within that draw on each ticket you purchase. For example, you may enter 12 games on a single ticket into one of the weekly draws.

There are many different ways to submit an entry for an Australian Lotto game. These include hand picking the numbers you’d like to enter or taking what is known as a “quickpick”. A Quickpick is a computer generated ticket where the numbers are selected at random for the number of games within the draw you want to play. In some instances you can play up to 36 games per ticket, per draw.

Some of the most popular lotto games are known by slightly different names in each state of Australia, but that doesn’t mean that you are playing a different lotto game. Some of the lotto game names are: Saturday Lotto, Monday Lotto, Wednesday Lotto, Oz Lotto, Powerball, 6 From 38 Pools, Super 66, Lotto Strike, Lucky Lotteries and Cash 3. In some states you may know these Australian Lotto games by more familiar names such as Gold Lotto and Tattslotto.

The rules for these types of lotto are all the same, irrespective of which state you play the game in or the name it is given in that state.
